About this Approach

Somatic Healing is grounded in both science & intuition as taught to me through the Integrative Bodywork & Movement Therapy (IBMT) Training Programme. It draws on the principles of Body-Mind Centering® (BMC), Authentic Movement & Somatic Psychology. BMC includes experiential anatomy of the cells, skin, bones, organs, fluids, nervous system, immune system & endocrine system, as well as the human developmental movement patterns from pre-conception to walking.

Somatic Healing is a process of helping to facilitate change & healing on a cellular level. The cells are where healing occurs. It is an exploratory approach to the body & health, and may include hands on bodywork, self-directed movement, specific movement patterns, anatomical study through imagery, props & experiential, drawing & sound.

Why Touch & Movement

From the moment we were conceived touch & movement has given us the stimulation & information we need to learn about ourselves & our environment. These were our primary learning methods enabling us to develop physically, mentally & emotionally.

By using touch & movement we can communicate directly with the body, helping to reinforce healthy patterns & experiences, & offering new choices where we may be inhibited, stuck, where patterns are incomplete or may have out-lived their usefulness.
